<div style="clear:both;"></div><p>OK, have to brag a bit here. Today, I was featured on <a href="http://beatblogging.org/2009/02/19/niche-social-networks-can-be-a-great-tool-for-journalists/" target="_blank">Beat Blogging</a>, an initiative of <a href="http://www.newassignment.net/about_newassignment_net">NewAssignment.Net</a>, a research project based at New York University.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s an informative blog that I read frequently &#8212; and that I&#8217;d encourage all journalists to read. So I felt pretty proud when NYU student Daniel Marrin contacted me on <a href="http://twitter.com/bloggingmom67" target="_blank">Twitter</a> and asked to interview me.</p>
<p>I was a mite bit nervous about being on the other side of the notebook.  (Read terrified.) I&#8217;ve interviewed hundreds of people, but I&#8217;ve only been the interviewee a few times. Let me tell you, I&#8217;m way more comfortable being the one asking the questions instead of answering them.</p>
<p>Marrin wrote about my use of <a href="http://savethemedia.com/2009/02/05/how-journalists-can-use-niche-social-networks/" target="_blank">niche social-networking sites</a> such as <a href="http://www.cafemom.com/" target="_blank">Cafe Mom</a> and <a href="http://www.twittermoms.com/profile/GinaChen" target="_blank">Twitter Moms</a> on my parenting beat and <a href="http://blog.syracuse.com/family/" target="_blank">Family Life</a> blog. He also reflected on the importance I place on blogging and connecting with readers in today&#8217;s newsrooms.</p>
<p>These are issues I feel passionately about, so I&#8217;m thrilled they will get exposure on <a href="http://beatblogging.org/2009/02/19/niche-social-networks-can-be-a-great-tool-for-journalists/" target="_blank">Beat Blogging</a>.</p>
