Can newspapers woo women readers through social media?
Jump to Comments
News organizations, take note: More women than men are using social media, a new study says.
The study, from Information is Beautiful, uses Google Ad Planner numbers to come up with its conclusion that more women than men use many popular social networks. Digg stands out because 64 percent of users are men. Linked-In and YouTube are tied, genderwise.
You can view that data yourself, but here are some findings I found interesting:
- Twitter: 57 percent women users.
- Facebook: 57 percent women users.
- Flickr: 55 percent women users.

Strange….though interesting……but DIGG which is moreover tending towards INFORMATIVE stuff…so you can expect MEN leading there…..interesting survey though…

Digg also tends to be technology-centered it seems, so kind of makes sense. Not that women can’t be into techie stuff (I am) but I’d gather more men than women are.

@Brewer –
An RSS feed is bascially just a tool where put a URL (Web address) of a blog into it as a subscription. The result is, every time that blogger posts a new item, it will feed directly into your RSS feed.
I use Google Reader, which is super easy to use. (Just Google Google Reader and set up a Google account to use it.)
I “subscribe” to more than 50 blogs, and what RSS does it gives me a neat list of all the post from all those blogs. It looks like a big list of headline. The ones I haven’t read yet are in boldface. That makes it super easy for me to scroll down, read headlines and decide whether it is a post I want to read.
Good luck.
