Check me out at Beat Blogging

OK, have to brag a bit here. Today, I was featured on Beat Blogging, an initiative of NewAssignment.Net, a research project based at New York University.

It’s an informative blog that I read frequently — and that I’d encourage all journalists to read. So I felt pretty proud when NYU student Daniel Marrin contacted me on Twitter and asked to interview me.

I was a mite bit nervous about being on the other side of the notebook.  (Read terrified.) I’ve interviewed hundreds of people, but I’ve only been the interviewee a few times. Let me tell you, I’m way more comfortable being the one asking the questions instead of answering them.

Marrin wrote about my use of niche social-networking sites such as Cafe Mom and Twitter Moms on my parenting beat and Family Life blog. He also reflected on the importance I place on blogging and connecting with readers in today’s newsrooms.

These are issues I feel passionately about, so I’m thrilled they will get exposure on Beat Blogging.
